Invisalign

Say goodbye to the metal brackets and wires! Clear aligners are a proven way to straighten teeth and achieve an ideal bite and smile. Only you need to know that you are straightening your teeth!

If you’ve ever wished for a straighter smile — or even wanted to tweak your bite or fine-tune the position of a single tooth — then Invisalign could be the answer for you.

Forget the metal brackets and poking wires of traditional braces. Invisalign offers a modern approach to adjusting your smile by using a series of clear, custom-made aligner trays designed to gradually move your teeth into just the right spot. Best of all, the aligners are virtually invisible and are removable for eating and drinking, making Invisalign one of the most convenient ways to get the smile you want.

Dr. Elena has training in traditional orthodontia before pursuing additional one-on-one training for Invisalign. She has worked with hundreds of patients to gently realign their smiles — and her own! At your first visit, Dr. Johnston will use an iTero intraoral scanner to take accurate measurements of your mouth — no sticky impression trays! — and map out your Invisalign progress all the way to smile perfection.

How can Invisalign help my smile?

Invisalign aligners are ideal for gently transforming many different dental issues, including overbite or underbite, crowded teeth or gaps between teeth. More complex cases such as crossbites can also be treated with Invisalign. Even patients
who have generally straight teeth often find that a small adjustment can have a big impact on their appearance and confidence.

In addition to improving the way your smile looks, a correctly aligned smile comes with many health benefits. Correcting spacing issues between teeth can make it easier to care for your teeth and gums and avoid gum disease and other periodontal problems. You’ll also improve the function of your teeth and will see fewer signs of wear and tear on your
tooth enamel over time. Improved alignment can relieve jaw pain or headaches. In some cases, using Invisalign aligners has even been shown to open airways and improve breathing and snoring in patients.

Will Invisalign work for me?

Adults and older teens whose jaws have finished growing often see the best long-term results with Invisalign. The Invisalign program requires dedication — aligner trays must be worn for 20-22 hours a day, and you’ll switch to a new set
of aligners every week or two. The good news is that you can still eat all of your favorite foods and brush and floss like normal, without wires and brackets in the way!

How long does treatment with Invisalign take?

Every Invisalign case is unique, though the average treatment time is typically between 8 and 12 months. After reviewing your oral scans and mapping out your full Invisalign journey, Dr. Johnston will be able to tell you how long the process will take. You may even begin to see preliminary results in just a few weeks! Go ahead and ask her about her own case!
