How can teeth whitening treatment help my smile shine?
Coffee, tea, soda, wine and smoking are all common causes of stains and tooth discoloration, and other factors such as
age and even illness or medication can also change the color of your teeth.
Our office recommends a variety of teeth whitening treatments, and we will work with you to determine which is the best fit based on your situation and your lifestyle. We know from experience that when patients see great results, it’s much easier to maintain that brighter, whiter smile!
KöR Whitening Treatment
For patients who have deep staining on their teeth or who want to achieve a little bit more than a light enhancement, Dr. Johnston may recommend KöR whitening, with a combination of in-office and at-home treatments.
KöR is designed to restore your teeth’s natural ability to absorb oxygen, which your teeth then absorb from the whitening gel to dissolve trapped stain molecules. KöR’s unique KöR-Seal trays seal out saliva that can start to break down whitening agents, making the treatment more effective than many comparable tray-based whiteners. The total treatment plan includes 2-4 weeks of at-home bleaching followed by an in-office treatment that lasts about 90 minutes and includes up to three 20-minute cycles.
Following the 2-4 weeks of at-home bleaching, a bleaching agent is applied in the dentist’s office. After your teeth are cleaned, Dr. Johnston will apply a protective barrier to keep the whitening gel from irritating your gums. Then she’ll brush on the Kor whitening gel and allow it to sit for about 20 minutes before suctioning it off. This chemically activated gel doesn’t require any hot or bright lights to do its job, and Dr. Johnston will typically apply three 20-minute treatments during your visit.
With ongoing maintenance and regular use of the at-home trays, KöR whitening can brighten even the most stubborn of stains for good!
